Project Overview

OsteosOnline is a healthcare application built specifically for osteopathy practices. It's split into two integrated apps: a patient-facing booking platform and a practitioner-facing management system.

Patient-Facing Application

• Smart Booking Flow: Patients select their location, preferred osteopath, treatment type, and available time slot to book an appointment in a few steps.
• Smart Reminders: Automated email reminders to reduce no-shows and keep patients informed.
• Abandoned Booking Recovery: If a patient starts booking but doesn't finish, the system sends a follow-up email allowing them to continue from exactly where they stopped.
• Multi-Location Support: Three clinics across Belgium (Antwerpen, Londerzeel, Reet) plus five locations in the Netherlands.

Practitioner-Facing Application

• Dashboard: Real-time view of today's appointments, previous appointments, and key practice metrics.
• Patient Management: Detailed patient profiles with therapeutic relationship tracking across colleagues. View intake records, consultation history, and treatment notes taken by any practitioner in the practice.
• Calendar System: Day and week views with the ability to create appointments for yourself or colleagues. Intuitive time slot selection directly from the calendar.
• Invoicing: Create payments and auto-generate invoices sent directly to patients via email.
• Role-Based Access Control: Four-tier permission system — Secretary, Contributor, Admin, and Owner — ensuring appropriate access levels across the practice.

Technical Implementation

• Frontend: React/Next.js with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS for responsive, accessible interfaces across desktop and tablet.
• Backend: Node.js with PostgreSQL for reliable relational data management of patients, appointments, invoices, and practitioner relationships.
• Email System: Automated transactional emails for booking confirmations, reminders, abandoned booking recovery, and invoice delivery.
• Insurance Integration: Support for multiple Belgian insurance providers including Liberale Mutualiteit, Helan, Solidaris, and Christelijke Mutualiteit.

Impact

OsteosOnline runs in production across clinics in Belgium and the Netherlands, streamlining the osteopathy workflow from booking to billing — reducing administrative overhead and improving the patient experience.
